Get a Juice Boost with Thirsty Thursday!

juiceWith gyms on every street corner, yoga studios, boot camps, cross fit programs, hiking trails and healthy cafes all over the place, getting slim for Summer only seems natural. But what about those last few pounds that just don’t seem to want to come off? The solution is simpler than you may think…juicing! Sipping pure, natural juices can be a way of life, it’s a tasty way to get the essential nutrients your body craves from fruits and veggies, or a healthy way to detox and cleanse. Eliminate toxins, reduce your risk of illness, boost your immune system, support healthy digestion, and lose weight one glass at a time.

Here are a few concoctions and links to get you started, but don’t be afraid to get a little creative and mix things up on your own! You can always add ginger, lemon, lime, parsley, chia or flax seed to any recipe for flavor and added nutrients. This first one is beneficial in revitalization of the body or, in simpler terms…glowing skin!

Apples are a universally known antioxidant and full of fiber. Try and stick to green when juicing for a lower sugar content.
Black grapes are preferred when juicing because they are higher in antioxidants and have a higher content of Resveratrol, the stuff we like to thank for things like: anti-aging, cancer prevention, and blood sugar control.
One of the lowest in calories and highest in hydration, watermelon and pineapple will help drive out excess salts from your body. They are also rich in fiber and potassium.
Carrots, which hold an excellent source of beta carotene, are fantastic for your eyes, skin and nails. —

If your goal is to detox, try to commit to mainly greens like, Kale, spinach, celery, cucumber, parsley, and broccoli. Sugars are high in fruit, so keep them to a minimum. Remember lemons and limes may be used freely.
Besides fresh produce, a juicer will be one of the best investments you will ever make. There are endless recipes you can experiment with.  We all know a trip to the grocery store can seem more like a chore than an adventure, so instead take a stroll to your local neighborhood’s Farmer’s Market!
